Moolmanshoek
This “Weekender Tour” is open for group bookings (for any given date)

Moolmanshoek is situated close to Ficksburg in the Free State..... and the most beautiful sandstone formations can be seen as part of the “Visiersker Berg” which is the highest mountain in the Free State. On the farm where we stay, which is actually five farms that have been combined to create a stunning paradise with game, hiking trails and 4x4 routes..... they have a luxurious sandstone lodge with thirteen exquisite rooms. There are also hiking huts for comfortable sleeping, small kitchen and ablutions and a small Lapa for gatherings.

ITINERARY

Day 1 
Tour operators and tour group to meet in the afternoon on the farm at approximately 3:00 pm (Directions and information to be supplied on booking). Camp set-up is organised while off loading of vehicles. Alternative to camping, rooms in the lodge can be booked, however, please note that bookings must be made well in advance of tour dates to ensure availability. Registration is between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm followed by supper.

Day 2 
We enjoy breakfast at 8:00 am before embarking on the days drive. Our route follows the drift and ventures across a ‘wild valley’ up to the plateau lookout, dubbed the “Mini Serengeti” because spread across the valley before us, is an abundance of various species of game. Our route continues through an old wood bush with an abundance of bird life.... said to thrive in the area because of 27 varieties of insects. Our drive continues up the steep sandstone, where there is no evidence of plant life... stopping at a very large cave, which is invisible from view and said to have been the hiding place for women during the war. Continuing over the golden sandstone formations through gorges we reach a lookout at lunchtime from where you can see Sangomakloof. After which we return to camp to cool off with a shower... rest and relax and enjoy supper.

Day 3   
Wake Up! ....to fresh, clean air and enjoy breakfast, before we drive to the West side of the farm to view interesting sights and discover old farm history. Our route for the day follows  steep hills and stunning sandstone formations.... where plenty of time is allowed for photo or video taking... at the top of the hill we stop to enjoy a panoramic view that is simply breathtaking. Our drive also takes us past a cave, where some of the more adventurous hikers sleep over.... however, we return back to camp to share 4x4 stories and review our days adventure, while enjoying a delicious supper.

Day 4 
Wake up in our own time and enjoy a late leisurely breakfast. Horse riding around the farm can be arrange for those interested, or hiking and nature walks for those who prefer, to enjoy the beautiful scenery and explore nature. Later that day, when all in the tour group are packed and ready, we start our journey home to the urban jungle.
