Bilene - Mozambique - Lagoon 4x4 Tour

ITINERARY

Day 1
We met together at camp, the Safubi River Lodge & Caravan Park in Nelspruit where we will enjoy a braai for supper.

Day 2
Up early for a quick breakfast and then we leave for the border. It takes time to get through the border, so please ensure that you have all the necessary papers/passports at hand. After the border crossing we drive the 240 km to Bilene through small villages which provides interest along our route. On arrival at Bilene we set up camp and then sit back to relax and enjoy the view across the lagoon, while getting to know each and sharing supper at around 6:00 pm.

Day 3
After an enjoyable breakfast we take on the challenge of lagoon beach driving. Crossing a river with an old steel bridge provides for an interesting view of the river flowing next to the lagoon. On our return to camp at 4:00 pm, we embark on a ‘sundowner cruise’ on a barge across the lagoon, then return to camp for dinner to watch the gorgeous sunset.

Day 4
After enjoying breakfast we embark on a 4x4 drive across sandy bush terrain on the north side of the lagoon. Most enjoy this fun sand dune driving, exploring the beach and taking in a different view. Sea tides permitting we drive along the beach to the Limpopo river mouth, before returning to camp for lunch and an afternoon swimming in the lagoon.

Day 5
After enjoying breakfast we break camp and start the drive home.

You Will Need:
4x4 Vehicle, Camping equipment and your own beverages. If it is a cross border 4x4 tour then you will also need: passports for all in your party, ID documents, drivers license, insurance consent letter, bank consent letter, third party insurance (for most countries), and if needed - malaria tablets. Please also consult with your General Practitioner and advise them of the country you will be visiting, and follow the necessary malaria precautions and take all necessary medications. Please note that each country has different malaria precautions, some require you have the injections and others that you take the tablets etc.
